Yvonne Coppard writes without pretension, tackling difficult issues head on and creating, in Rita, a character who enjoys all the reader's sympathies. We travel with her through her journey to emotional security and when she emerges, bruised but intact at the end of the book, we've shared in the learning process. Highly recommended for years 7 to 9.
