If you've ever thought dogs have had things their own way in the world of Hairy Maclary for far too long, you'll welcome this second story about the black cat, Slinky Malinki, teamed in mischief with Stickybeak Syd, the rainbow lorrikeet. Inevitably, perhaps, this lacks the fresh originality of the early books by Lynley Dodd, but the rhymes jog along well. The refrain will encourage joining in and the pictures are lively and amusing.
