Beware Beware

A young child leaves the cosy warmth of her mother's kitchen and braves the shadows of a twilight wood. Then the shadows come to life and she flees back to the arms of her mother. That's all, but in a minimal, rhythmic, incantatory text and a few quietly crowded pages that pullulate with eerie imagery, the book tells a magnificent tale of courage, naughtiness, dread and redemption. This is a wonderful picture book for all ages, and one that younger children might particularly enjoy sharing with each other.
