Buy ""Independent" Story of the Year: The Ten Winning Stories: No. 3 (Andre Deutsch Children's Books)" on Amazon

The ten winning stories from the Independent/Scholastic Story of the Year Competition. Selected from over 2,000 manuscripts, they throw a fresh, dynamic light into the world of children's books. Superb for reading aloud, but more proficient readers will enjoy reading them alone. I loved the weirdness of 'The Man Who Had Frogs Inside Him' and had lots of fun trying out the Glaswegian in 'Bikes Can Git Ye Intae Truble' - fantastic fun once you get the hang of it. I liked, too, the gentle irony of the progression of mankind in 'The Long Friendship' - it's not often you read a story that spans millions of years.
