Charlie Bone and the Red Knight

Author: Jenny Nimmo

The powers of darkness are closing in, in this, the final book in the series concerning Charlie Bone. Charlie is homesick for his long-absent parents, the Pets Café has closed and Billy Raven is trapped in Badlock. Worse, there’s a mysterious swordsman prowling the alleyways, sinister Lord Grimwald holds the lives of Charlie’s parents in his power and there are rumours that the evil enchanter Count Harken is gathering his forces for battle. And then, Charlie finds out about the pearl-inlaid box that the old Bloors are desperately trying to get their hands on, which, it seems, holds the key to the destiny of both Billy and Charlie’s father. Just when all seems lost for Charlie and his friends, a red knight appears on the scene ready to fight their cause, his presence providing further intrigue – for what is his role and who is he?

The story draws in a huge cast of characters, each unique and essential to the intricate plot. As magical as the story is the writing, weaving myth, fantasy, humour and everyday situations into a powerful whole that, with every twist and turn, never fails to entertain.
