Joe's Dog

Author: Angela JoyIllustrator: Nicola Slater

Joe wants a dog and is offered a variety from which to choose. They are all paraded (unnamed) before us, dramatically and very recognizably for dog lovers – identifying them would be part of the fun – each accompanied by descriptions like ‘a tall lanky swanky dog’ or ‘a chubby grubby tubby dog’. You can actually feelthe dog’s furry ears in several cases (this robust, kennel shaped book has tactile elements) and there is, gratifyingly, a good Scottish joke at the end. This book will quickly become a favourite with many children. It is one of mine already.
