A Letter for Bear
Bear is a postman in a very cold part of the world. He faithfully delivers letters to all the animals of the wood. Then one day, he realises that nobody has ever sent him a letter. So he sets out to solve the problem.
Sitting in his cave, feeling very lonely as he sips his soup and stares at the stars, he decides to throw a party. After writing and delivering invitations to all of his neighbours, Bear decorates his cave ready for his visitors. Fearing that nobody will turn up, Bear is just about to hang up his party hat when his timid neighbours arrive. The party goes with a swing and the next morning, to his delight, all the letters to be delivered are for Bear himself – thank you letters from his guests.
Delightfully illustrated, this simple story touches profoundly but gently on the universal issues of loneliness and friendship. Recommended for sharing with young children to develop empathy.
