Courage in a Poem

Author: Various AuthorsIllustrator: Various Illustrators

This anthology of forty-two different poems about empowerment, each one written by a different contemporary poet, are reflective of modern concerns such as racism, LGBT, different cultures, fears, refugees, dyslexia, making one’s voice heard, and others; they are full of positivity and the central idea is that one can be sure of one’s values and self-esteem, even when life seems to be going a bit wrong.  The beautifully produced illustrations that go with each poem are – similarly – done by different artists and reflect the subject of each one in a vibrant and very relevant way.  Full of bright colours and interesting shapes, they will appeal, as will the poems, and this could become a classic book of our era.  Courage is among the many things that young people must face (as do their elders) and this anthology could be the perfect antidote to fears.
