Creaky Castle: Tom's Dragon Trouble

Author: Tony BradmanIllustrator: Stephen Parkhouse

Exaggerated characters are used to comic effect in this medieval romp of a story. Tom has secretly bought himself a pet, a baby dragon called Sparky, which he has hidden in the stables. Now he needs his parents’ permission to keep it, but his mum, Lady Eleanor, will have none of it. When he hears that the King is to visit his parents’ tumbledown castle, he puts together a plan to get his mum to change her mind. Then he discovers a plot against the King by the evil Baron de Rathbone. Can he use this information to his advantage? Meanwhile, Sparky is growing by the day, spilling out of his hiding place, making Tom’s life ever more difficult as his plan starts to unravel. Entertainingly written, and full of farcical situations and witty anachronisms, this is a thoroughly enjoyable read. The first title in what is to be a series.
