Enormouse

Author: Angie Morgan

Enormouse is enormous.  While this can be useful when the small mice need to reach something from a high shelf or when they are tired and want to be carried, he finds it worrying that he is so different from his friends.  One day, when he and his best friend Tinymouse find a book with a picture of a rat in it, they become convinced that Enormouse isn’t a mouse at all but a rat.  The other mice in the cosy mouse house find this idea hilariously funny, and poor Enormouse writes a note and runs away to find some rats to live with.  His adventures and how he and the other mice discover their mistakes make up the rest of this charming and kindly picture book.  The illustrations, mostly drawn but with elements of collage, are full of friendly, happy mice and friendly, messy rats, all of whom are loving.  Enormouse is a popular and accommodating  member of the mouse community, and he and the little mice learn that everyone makes mistakes and that being different can be a good thing.  Excellent in both text and illustration.
