Gnomes, Gnomes, Gnomes

Author: Anne FineIllustrator: Vicki Gausden

Sam is obsessed with gnomes. Every time he’s given clay in Art at school, he makes a gnome. He has loads – possibly hundreds! Sam makes them, his sister Alice paints them, and then the gnomes go in the shed. This is because Sam doesn’t like to have them in his room. He finds them unsettling. However, when Sam’s mum suddenly needs the shed to store things for a car boot sale, the gnomes have to move. Sam and Alice give them a send-off in the garden. Then something extraordinary happens when the gnomes accidentally get taken to the car boot sale.

This funny and quirky book, written by the former children’s laureate, Anne Fine, has a reading age of 7 with an interest age of 9+.
