Max and the Won't Go to Bed Show

Max the Magnificent is about to begin his amazing Putting Off Bedtime For As Long As Possible Show, drum roll please. Mark Sperring’s hilarious text is perfectly complemented by fabulous illustrations from Sarah Warburton in this very funny bedtime picture book. Max’s ‘show’ involves all the usual ablutions including drinking some milk (it’s vanished!), playing with the dog (taming a wild beast!) and getting changed (floating pyjamas!). The big finale is the bedtime story – Max performs a daredevil act and request ten! Finally Max is ready to sleep, after all he has tomorrow’s show to prepare for.

Brilliant colours and patterned pages give this book real magic. The drawings are super stylish and the page design is exciting and entertaining. It will be fun to read aloud at bedtime, though some children may be dismayed to realise parents know what they’re up to when they try their own delaying tactics! The Won’t Go to Bed Show will be requested for repeat performances night after night.
