Milet Picture Dictionary: English/Tamil

A vividly coloured book that gives words in English and Tamil under various categories such as plants, fruit, animals, human body, school and office etc. Each double page spread has a boldly coloured background which makes it more visually exciting as a picture dictionary, and the illustrations are quite clear representations of the objects as labelled. A minor point: there’s no page on family or people – even if kinship terminology is more complex in Tamil than in English, words for mother, father, brother, sister, friend, neighbour would be useful additions. As a picture dictionary this book is attractive enough to catch the interest of children in KS1 and lower KS2, (particularly as the look of the Tamil script tempts one to try and copy it!)
