The Glump and the Peeble

Author: Wendy MeddourIllustrator: Rebecca Ashdown

The Glump and the Peeble feel trapped by what is expected of them. Glumps must live alone doing nothing; a Peeble must dance and twirl all night. Supposing you want to just sometimes do something different? Is it possible?

Using a simple rhyming text, Meddour tells the story of the Glump and the Peeble who discover that if you really want to do something different you can; that, even if you may be the first, it is possible and it opens the door to new friends. Rebecca Ashdown supplies the bright lively illustrations, giving visual expression to the text and presenting her humorous idea of what a Glump or a Peeble might look like. The imaginative background is set by the endpapers which are full of creatures both familiar and less so. The text, a clear sans serif font is well placed against white or pastel grounds, a pleasure to read. A fun book to add to the collection.
