The Mute Button

Author: Ellie Irving

A hilarious but moving portrayal of a young boy who is struggling to be heard in his big, mad family. Being one of five siblings can be tricky enough, but when a new half brother shows up out of the blue, Anthony Button’s life is completely turned upside down. Written in a journal style, Irving cleverly approaches issues to do with family life and complicated relationships in way that is completely accessible to children. She uses humour to bring to light the seriousness of bullying and emotional problems, making this an excellent classroom resource to approach such topics. Absolutely brilliant.
