The World's Bellybutton

Author: Tanya LandmanIllustrator: Ross Collins

Greek mythology is given a new twist in this fantasy, time-slip adventure. William Popidopolis is on the tiny Greek island of Spitflos with his mum Kate, meeting his dad for the first time. He’s in his father’s taverna when a huge, balding swan waddles up to him, introducing himself as Zeus, king of the gods. Zeus needs his help urgently, for the knot that ties the world together is fast unravelling. They must go together to the bowels of the earth – a journey that takes them to the Underworld and then on to Delphi by way of Brighton – to retie the knot and save the world from exploding. Along the way William encounters mythological landmarks, heroes and creatures, among them Odysseus, the Gorgons and Pegasus. Fresh and engaging – and full of surprises – this is a story to inspire. The simple, expressive pencil drawings are an added bonus, perfectly capturing the story’s gentle humour.
