Thomas Has Autism

Author: Jillian Powell

Thomas is on the Autistic Spectrum, which in his case means problems with communication, a need for routine, some learning difficulties, and obsessive tidiness – even in other people’s homes.  He attends a special unit in his school, and we see him doing puzzles, being helped to read and write, and working in the sensory room.  At Rainbow Club after school, he does crafts and plays games, as well as having sessions with the music team.  In photographs we see that Thomas is a happy, active lad and that he has all sorts of reasons to enjoy life.  This will be an excellent choice for Key Stage 1 pupils in helping them understand the complexities of autism.
