Andersen Press launch ‘The Klaus Flugge Salon’
Andersen Press celebrated the 90th birthday of its founder and chairman Klaus Flugge last month, inviting key authors, illustrators and friends from the near 50 years of the company. To continue the celebrations into 2025, and further honour Klaus, Andersen Press is launching The Klaus Flugge Salon, to be hosted in its new offices in Bloomsbury.
‘These events will be open to anyone from the public who wants to meet those in the publishing industry, enjoy a glass of wine and listen to an author or illustrator talk about their work,’ says PR director Paul Black. ‘They are a celebration of all that is good about the world of children’s publishing today and an opportunity to make new friends, learn about new books and discuss ideas.’
Limited to 30 tickets, the salons will cost £8 and ticket price includes a signed book by the featured creator and refreshments.
The inaugural salon is scheduled for 6pm Thursday 23 January and will feature author William Hussey talking about his new LGBTQ novel The Boy I Love as well as an exhibition of WW1 letters and artefacts.
Tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis and are available from Ticket Tailer now.
‘All are welcome, old friends and new’ says Black.
Also this year The Klaus Flugge Prize, set-up to recognise new children’s book illustrators in honour of Klaus’ unique contribution to the picture books, celebrates its 10th anniversary in 2025, with submissions invited now for the 2025 award.
