Useful Organisations No.53: The Faber Academy

Author: BfK Compiled

www.faberacademy.co.uk

The Faber Academy is a creative-writing programme based in the Bloomsbury offices of publisher Faber and Faber that runs different kinds of events from one-day workshops to six-month courses to individual mentoring schemes.

From January, Anthony McGowan (joined by guest tutors Meg Rosoff, Anne Fine and Michael Rosen) will be teaching a four-month ‘Writing for Children’ course with the Academy, aimed at bringing out the creativity of those who have always wanted to write for children, but find that they either lack the basic skills or the confidence, or that they are confident and skilled, but just need a helping hand to get properly underway and finish that book! The teaching style is very hands-on and practical, based on the writing of each individual participant, with a seminar feel rather than a lecture.
