Celebrate poetry with Michael Rosen this autumn
The third annual Michael Rosen Day will take place on Thursday 12 November. Schools and others are invited to join this ‘unmissable celebration of poetry and stories’ to celebrate the nation’s favourite funny poet.
It’s been a big year for Rosen: he turned 80 this year and won the Hans Christian Andersen Award, the most prestigious accolade for a children’s author, and organisers are determined that, in the National Year of Reading, this will be the biggest and best Michael Rosen Day yet. This year’s theme is Silly School Stuff – whether there’s No Breathing in Class or a school Dinner Disaster, don’t miss out!
Last year, 382,000 children were registered to join the livestream Poetry Party, and this year, schools are invited to Go All In for the magic of Michael Rosen and this year’s Silly School Stuff bonanza, bursting with Michael’s trademark raps, rhymes, stories and fun for everyone.
How you can get involved:
- REGISTER for Michael’s Huge Poetry Party livestreamed event on 12 November
- ENTER the 2026 Silly School Stuff poetry competition
- REGISTER for free resources
Michael Rosen is also starring in this year’s National Poetry Day celebrations (Thursday 1 October). This year’s theme is ‘Wonder’ and celebrates the joy of discovering the world around us. Organiser the Forward Arts Foundation are offering a live lesson featuring Hot Poets and Michael Rosen, and ‘bringing poetry, climate science and creativity into schools across the UK. From tiny insects to towering trees, it’s all about seeing the extraordinary in the everyday’.
There are FREE lesson plans and resources for schools which are available for download now.
