Inclusive Books for Children book-gifting scheme expands again
Inclusive Books for Children (IBC) is enlarging its national book-gifting scheme, offering 60 boxes of 100 inclusive children’s books to state primary schools and community libraries across the UK in 2025.
The scheme, originally piloted in 2024 with 12 boxes, was expanded mid-year to 34 after an overwhelming response from schools citing lack of funds and limited representation in their book provision. Now, 6,000 more books will be gifted in 2025.
Each Book Box is curated by IBC’s expert panel and includes high-quality inclusive titles for ages 2–12.
All eligible schools can apply, and all applicants (successful or not) will receive free resources, including expert video guides and classroom tools for using IBC’s website.
One teacher from last year’s cohort said: ‘The inclusive books have been a great addition to our school library, sparking meaningful discussions. Staff love how they foster empathy and boost self-esteem. These engaging books ensure children feel valued and celebrated.’
Marcus Satha, co-founder of IBC, said, ‘Schools and libraries are in desperate need of books that are in touch with the communities they serve. We’re proud to expand this scheme and increase the accessibility of inclusive children’s books for ever more children.’
Applications are open to all UK state primary schools and community libraries with one application per organisation.
Applications open 18 June and close 18 July. Find out more and apply.
