New crowd-funded children’s book to retell Britain’s oldest stories

July 9, 2020/in news /by Richard Hill

Children’s Laureate of Wales, Eloise Williams and author Matt Brown have launched a new crowdfunded project, The Mab.

The Mab

The Mab will retell stories from the Mabinogion to excited kids and reconnect them with their history and culture. Amongst the authors contributing are Sophie Anderson, PG Bell, Darren Chetty, Alex Wharton, Catherine Johnson and Hanan Issa.

The campaign is supported by many in Wales, who are delighted that the Mabinogion is being brought to life for a new generation. Lleucu Siencyn, Chief Executive Officer of Literature Wales, called The Mab a ‘brilliant initiative’. She said: ‘Every child should have the opportunity to fall in love with these unique tales and to be part of the tradition of wondrous storytelling, which have lived on in these lands for over a thousand years.’

If you would like to support The Mab, you can do so via their Unbound crowdfunding page.

There’s a video too by Matt Brown with more information.
