Babbit

An endearing book from an internationally acclaimed illustrator, Babbit is an extremely talkative toy rabbit who gets snatched from a family picnic. The story is told entirely in the first person by Babbit, talking to us, his audience. His catchy mode of speech includes a number of innocent expletives (loved by young readers) starting with ‘lollopy lop ears!’

But who snatched Babbit? Witchy One, along with the Snappy, Growly and Snorty Ones. There’s the cauldron, firing up, with the four Meanies arguing about which part of Babbit each will devour. ‘Wiggle my whiskers!’ cries Babbit, tied securely to a tree trunk. Surely his owners will be searching for him? And yes, they try to rescue him. But, oh no! The Meanies spot them. ‘Blinking bob tails!’  There comes a wonderful resolution… This picture book is a well crafted piece of imaginary play; the skilful, witty and original pictures enhance and expand the tale every step of the way.  Small children will love it!
