Cat

Author: Victoria Huseby

Like the other titles in this series on lifecycles, Cat is a traditional early information book. On the left hand side of each double spread we have simple text in clear print and on the right appropriate illustrations. The photographs of the creature, an appealing tabby, show the different stages from newborn to mature cat. It is these pictures that will draw in young readers and listeners. Sharing the book with a small group would give children the opportunity to discuss the information from written text and illustrations and to relate it to their experience of cats they know. The small drawings at the bottom of each page build up so that they can be used as a mnemonic to resavour each step in the cat’s life.
