Do You Speak English, Moon?

Author: Francesca SimonIllustrator: Ben Cort

A little boy who can’t get to sleep decides to have a chat with the moon. The moon speaks English, of course. The little boy has lots of questions for the moon, and lots to tell about what he has and what he likes to do. A dreamy exploration of all of his ideas tires the little boy out, but before he goes to sleep he’s sure to remind the Moon that ‘I’m here. Anytime you want to talk’. It’s never lonely when you can tell someone about your day.

Ben Cort’s bright illustrations retain their colourful charm even with this slightly darker jewel palette – perfect for the night time setting. Each spread offers a new scene of interest and imagination for children to pour over and could establish a lovely bedtime routine of telling the moon about the day’s activities. A short, simple text that will delight tiny tots before bed.
