Don't Let the Aliens Get My Marvellous Mum!

The celebration of all that mothers mean to small children is at the heart of this colourful book which explores worries about loss but in an amusing and reassuring way. Pichon’s artwork bubbles with exuberance, showing clearly this small child’s imaginative fears – what would happen if Mum were abducted in a flying saucer and replaced by an assortment of odd looking aliens? Life would certainly be different, being looked after by bright green, orange or purple aliens, with one, three or five eyes. Their concepts of care would be bizarre as well as their ideas of ordinary daily routines. The book closes with the child hoping these aliens will never notice just how marvellous her Mum really is.
