Fish Go Woof

Fifteen brightly coloured, caricatured animals, from bees to tigers, not to mention the combinations thrown up by random turning of the page sections, feature in this three-way split page, spirally bound book. The split page format can be fun, especially when there is the potential to make silly sentences. Here however, by restricting the vocabulary to the animal names, the single verb ‘go’ on every middle section, and an animal noise, the joke wears thin well before the end of the book. ‘There are just not enough words to play with,’ as one of my readers pointed out.
