Fortunately, Unfortunately

Author: Michael Foreman

When Milo the monkey sets out to return his Granny’s umbrella, little does he know what adventures lie in store. He finds himself face to face with a whale, sword-brandishing pirates, teeth-gnashing dinosaurs, tiny green aliens of the friendly variety and rather larger ones looking far from friendly, before landing up – or rather down – in Granny’s garden with her umbrella somewhat the worse for wear, but – fortunately – full of surprises. Unfortunately though (or fortunately, depending on your viewpoint), that’s not quite the end of this riveting and cleverly constructed tale.

Foreman’s distinctive ink, watercolour and pastel illustrations, here three or four frame sequences, there a full or double-page spread, invite the reader’s exploration and tell as much or more of the story as do the words.
