Grow It, Eat It

Gardening is currently fashionable and the design of this book is as good as you’d expect from DK in collaboration with the Royal Horticultural Society. The idea of combining vegetable gardening tips with recipes on how to deal with the produce is a good one and the result clear and inspiring.

Double page spreads combine each stage in the process with both text and photo. Then there are added bits of background information and starter pages on what plants need to thrive, bugs and pests, essential equipment and the recycle and renew message. Health and safety is emphasised throughout – get your pet adult to wield the sharp knife! The supplier section at the end shoul prove useful.

I’m pretty sure my grandchildren will hijack my review copy as soon as they spot it. Come to think of it, their uncle, a new home and garden owner, might nab it first.
