Horace the Haggis and the Christmas Mystery

Author: Sally MagnussonIllustrator: Norman Stone

Horace and Major Mole are worried, as some of their friends have gone missing – and as if this is not enough there is a mysterious V sign outside the missing people’s houses. What to do? Could it be the return of the deadly gangster Don Volio, and if so … ??? They set off on a rescue, unaware of the fact that two far deadlier enemies (Farmer McPhee and his cat) are on a haggis hunt. When they arrive at Don Volio’s, further surprises are in store. Magnusson’s instinct for slipping in timely messages (in this case that not all people with bad reputations are irredeemably bad) is assured and timely. The whole book is great fun and goes at a rollicking pace; it could find a ready place in classrooms or at home.
