Isadora Moon Has a Birthday 10th Anniversary Edition

Author: Harriet Muncaster

It’s ten years since the first Isadora Moon book was published and she’s been enchanting readers ever since, with over six and a half million copies sold. This adventure describes Isadora’s own birthday and she’s determined to have a human-style party, much to the consternation of her fairy mum and vampire father. They naturally want to put their spin on the celebrations and when bossy cousin Wilbur arrives to do magic tricks for the guests, things nearly end in disaster. The story is everything that readers have come to expect and which makes this series so successful. It’s a lively, funny story, Isadora and her unusual but always close, loving family are perfect company, and, throughout, there’s a gentle but distinct message about being happy and confident in who you are. As Isadora says, ‘I wasn’t sure where I fitted in but then I went to human school and discovered that everyone is a little bit different and that’s the best way to be.’  Who could resist?

There’s also an extra story in this anniversay edition, starring ex-toy, Isadora’s special friend Pink Rabbit, brought magically to life by her fairy mum. Pink Rabbit is normally silent, so it’s great to hear him speaking in a story about his own birthday celebrations. Both stories are delivered via short chapters and with two colour (vampire black and fairy pink) illustrations on every page they’re just right for newly independent readers. Here’s to the next Isadora Moon anniversary!
