Just Imagine

Readers are invited to roam their imagination and think about what it might be like to be big, small, magical, living underground or in the wild – a number of possibilities are presented visually with bright illustrations and textually with speech bubble prompts. Eye-catching text on the inside covers gives a rolling list of various things you are invited to Just imagine…and includes the routine and the incredible, for instance: …sleeping, sneezing, walking… fire-breathing, egg-laying, potion-brewing…

Each double page spread has black outlined drawings filled in with bright colours. The main text is in large, bold type and the white speech bubbles dotted about the pages are in a very much lighter, smaller font size. There’s an encouragement here to pour over each double page, spend time looking at and talking about the details. An additional element to the book is that there is a rhyme scheme running through the text – it’s subtle and than doesn’t overwhelm the key theme. There’s something on each page that’s likely to engage the imagination of most young readers.
