Monster Support Group The Creature's Origin

Author: Laura Suárez

Frederick is a monster who really needs the help offered by the Monster Support Group, motto: no tale too tall, no story too gory, all monsters welcome. His maker, Dr Victoria Frankenstein is determined to make him as monstrous as possible particularly in the stage act she devises, but that’s the opposite of what Frederick wants – we see him performing extracts from Romeo and Juliet, moving the audience to tears. He runs away, only for Dr Frankenstein to pursue him. Can the Monster Support Group and Frederick’s new friend Mattias help them both to live happily together? With its cast of vampires, werewolves, ghosts and ghouls and some monstrously funny jokes, this graphic novel also delivers an important and reassuring message about the importance of getting people to acknowledge who you really are, and of accepting that yourself. The vibrant illustrations, cheerful characters and the format all make this accessible to a wide range of readers but some of the content pushes it older and this is ideal for readers of 8/9 plus. It’s also a good first introduction to Frankenstein.
