A sweet little girl out trick or treating decides to go down the twisty, turny path, through the winding, wailing wood, to the creepy, creaky house that no-one ever visits. Inside the house is a witch, stirring potions, just one key ingredient missing … Will the little girl notice that the witch isn’t just wearing a costume before it’s too late? What follows is a twist in the tail that is wonderfully unexpected and will make readers of all ages laugh. Catherine Emmett’s text is particularly good for reading aloud and the illustrations by Laura Brenlla are spookily appealing, details picked out in neon orange.
