Mr Super Poopy Pants

Author: Rebecca Elliott

Toby, the narrator of this story has been perfectly content with just one sibling, his big sister Clemmie, but then a new family member arrives. He’s not called Batman as Toby had hoped but Benjamin, although Toby’s name for him is Mr Poopy Pants and he’s certainly no superhero. In fact he cannot even utter a single word. He does make noises though – cries, burps and parps – the latter often heralding a poop – a very frequent occurrence. Toby identifies distinct types, his favourite being the bath-time Submarine Poop, the Ghost Poop albeit a fake poop– this works a treat for clearing a busy park and the Waterfall Poop, which is excellent for enabling a hasty escape from posh boring parties. In fact, this tiny baby actually does have super powers; indeed he’s a Pooperhero. The talking will come later, unlike with his big sister Clemmie, as Toby gently reminds readers at the end of this funny story. Well not quite the end: Mr PP himself has the final word.

Rebecca Elliott’s illustrations are a riot of colour and pattern. It’s a real pleasure to meet a new addition to Toby and Clemmie’s family, especially one presented in such a warm, funny manner.
