On Our Way Home

This picture book tells of a bear’s journey home with his dad – through the dark forest, high on a mountain and down in the valley. The young bear enjoys his walk with his father and doesn’t feel like going home; but the sun is setting so they must. They run with the clouds and their shadows, they watch the sun going down and the stars coming out and find they are home at last. While it is good to have a story that focuses on the relationship between a father and son, its execution is stilted. The text does not have any special ring to it and the illustrations are a little flat.
