Snowflakes

Mia has moved from the home in the city out into the countryside to live with a Grandma she barely knows. Everything is beautiful; her room is full of toys and Grandma is warm and kind, but everything is different. One snowy night she recognises the moon shining over her new home as the same moon she remembers from the city. She notices that snowflakes are all different but that each one is perfect. The next day Mia is ready to see the magic in her new surroundings, and she makes friends with a girl and goes sledging for the very first time.

Snowflakes is a very pretty book, the story is sweet with sentiments that will be recognisable and useful to children coping with moving homes, families and overcoming shyness and fears. The text is slightly longer than the average picture book so this is an ideal bedtime read. The illustrations are particularly beautiful; the cute characters retain a simplicity that gives this young appeal while the gorgeous landscapes match the text for a rich reading experience. A lovely Christmas gift that could bring a smile to even the shyest little girl.
