Super Zeroes

Author: Rhiannon LassiterIllustrator: Tony Ross

Everyone in the city of Multiplicity admires the flamboyant Hero Squad for its dashing deeds against the villainous Dr D Void. Everyone, that is, except Ben, whose dad happens to be the Squad’s leader. Too busy with his own heroism, his dad has little time for him and constantly lets him down. Feeling neglected and alone, Ben hates his life – until he meets a group of children in a similar predicament, with parents too self-absorbed to pay them attention. So they put into action a daring plan involving rebellious fluffy pink robots and stampeding animals in the hope of forcing their parents to change their ways. This is a fast-paced and funny adventure, original in the way it handles the theme of absent parents and children’s need to place adults firmly back into their lives. Well-observed, too, are the stereotypical assumptions that some adults make about their children.
