The Good Green Lunchbox

Author: Jocelyn MillerIllustrator: Richard Deverell

A great resource for all those children (and their parents) who take a packed lunch to school, this simple and attractively produced cookbook is full of ideas for healthy meals, snacks and treats. The emphasis is on seasonal produce, ethically sourced and fair-trade wherever possible, and all the recipes are vegetarian. The book opens with a project to make your own picnic bag, complete with jolly napkins to avoid wasteful paper ones. Step-by-step recipes include ideas for sandwiches, a bean burger, homemade pizza, soups, salads, lemonade, fruit yoghurts, muffins and energy bars. There are tips for growing your own salads and simple instructions for ‘green’ packing to reduce waste as well as templates to make boxes. An excellent way to involve children in making healthy choices about food.
