The Heartless Robots

Author: Simon Bartram

When Moon Man Bob wins the coveted Spacemen Who Are Also Inventors Competition with his kind-hearted robot Galaxobot 3000, runner-up Stan the Man is red-raw with anger. For the last five years Stan has been runner-up, not winner – and now he wants revenge. While Bob is busy celebrating, he gets hold of the robot and reprograms it, doing away with its gentle nature and turning it into a monster of violence with a mission: to destroy the universe.

Moon Man soon discovers that Galaxabot 3000 has been tampered with and is no longer programmed to distribute comfort and endless cups of tea. When the robot attacks and imprisons him, Moon Man realises that he has to come up with a solution – and fast – to restore it to its former good self.

This is the third in the series of stories about Moon Man Bob and his six-legged dog, Barry, who first came to life in picture-book format. Written with vigour and dollops of humour, it is a good-natured romp made all the more appealing by its energetic drawings.
