The Hueys in None the Number

This author/illustrator is a law to himself, and his latest picture book verges on the surreal. Each page show the two Hueys, who look like eggs on sticks, talking about different numbers up to ten, all represented in these pages by out of the way images including a collection of three chairs and six fishermen waiting for a bus. A discussion at the end about whether ‘none’ should also count as a number may pass most young readers by, but there is much else to relish in this enjoyably eccentric book.
