The Mouse who Ate the Moon: A Peep-through Story Book

Author: Petr Horáček

The moon looks beautiful; Little Mouse would love a piece for herself. Then she finds something that must be part of the moon –  golden – and delicious. Little Mouse cannot help herself. She eats some of it. What will happen to the moon now?

A delightfully simple picture book, illustrated with Horacek’s trade-mark rich saturated colours, bold designs and clever cut-outs. Even the youngest reader will be able to enjoy the humour. They will quickly realise that what Little Mouse (endearing with her stripy socks and tail) has found is a banana, but will sympathise with her anxiety. Finally they will be able to join the three friends as they watch the moon rising over the trees. From the glorious yellow of the end pages – a yellow that can be seen through the cut out on the front cover as the moon, through the leafy greens of the undergrowth, Horacek creates a rich visual feast that combines with a simple, satisfying story – a perfect bedtime read.
