There's a Tiger on the Train

Author: Mariesa DulakIllustrator: Rebecca Cobb

A little boy is on the way to the seaside with his dad. When they get on the train something amazing happens – a tiger in a top hat gets on too, sits right next to the little boy and starts reading a comic! Dad doesn’t notice, he is too busy with his phone. The tiger is swiftly followed by crowds of crocodiles and piglets, three large hippos, two pugs and a mouse. Dad, still absorbed with his phone, is unaware of these strange passengers arriving and their antics. He only starts paying attention when the tiger swallows his phone! However, being separated from his device enables dad and the little boy to have lots of seaside fun together without distraction.

This is a lovely rhyming story full of imaginative fun. It includes a subtle message about the conversations and experiences, whether real or imaginary that might be missed if adults are too wrapped up in their devices.

An engaging debut picture book with an enjoyable story. The delightful artwork by acclaimed illustrator Rebecca Cobb includes lots of amusing detail – spot the tiger before he steps on the train, and is that a snake on the platform too?
