Tree Soup

Following on from The Trouble with Wenlocks, Stanley Wells, the ‘ordinary boy with some extraordinary friends’, returns and is woken by whooooomphing – a noise he has to investigate. When he discovers his family are missing, he relies on his old friend Dr Moon to assist. The result is another dazzlingly original story from Joel Stewart who, as in the Mr Gum books, creates a picture book novel in which the illustrations are integral to the dreamy quality of the story. There is a depth of thinking in both Stanley Wells novels and wonderful turning points in this new title down which to meander. Beautiful.
