Upside Down Babies

Author: Jeanne WillisIllustrator: Adrian Reynolds

This is a jolly tale of what happened the day the world turned upside down: all the babies ended up with different mothers, none of whom suited each other. The sloth ends up with a baby cheetah; the owl with a rooster and mummy camel had a polar bear baby in her care. However, when the world turned the right way up, all were back in their rightful places, with the exception of ‘two small babies who preferred their other mother… so Mum kept the gorilla and Gorilla kept my brother!’ Bright and cheery illustrations in Adrian Reynolds’ characteristic style fill each page with colour and tell of the alarm and disquiet felt by the animals facing these terrible mix ups: the owl being woken by the baby rooster is a particular favourite. The text romps along, rhyming superbly and will be a joy to read aloud time and again. Delightful.
