What Can You Stack on the Back of a Yak?
Illustrator: Adam StowerCaptain Quack has a lot of post to deliver, luckily he has a very sturdy yak to carry the load safely up the track, but naughty yak has other ideas. Boxes get lost when the yak starts playing around, and yak is upset until he gets a chance to rescue some baa-lambs who are stuck up the mountainside. As the duck and the yak carry on up the track all of their original cargo is slowly replaced by a motley crew of animals (and cowboys!) that have lost their way. But how will Captain Quack explain to the mayor that all the post is gone when they reach the village at the top of the track?
There is a lot to enjoy in this hilarious rhyming tale of poor Captain Quack and his naughty post-yak. The Seuss-like text is a delight to read aloud, and the rhymes avoid predictability. Adam Stower’s illustrations are bright and brilliant, with lovely variations in spread and layout that add real movement to the journey. A cracking picture book that verges on being totally quackers!
