Where's My Darling Daughter?

Poppa Bombola has forgotten where he has put his darling daughter, but the reader knows where she is and we enjoy the visual joke, revealed incrementally in McEwen’s lively illustrations as Poppa searches frantically for her. The charming rhythmical rhyming text is by Mij Kelly, whose Scottish granny told Mij at the age of five that she  would be a writer. Like most grannies, ‘her word was the law’ and Mij duly became a writer.
