Who Ate the Little Bug?

Author: Hector Dexet

A little bug (a ladybird) can be seen through the cover of the book nestling within a series of brightly coloured concentric circles. The implication is that the bug has been eaten and young readers are invited to investigate who the culprit might be. A series of animals is revealed as the pages are turned and the text repeats the question, was it this animal … or perhaps that one?  Each time we are told we are wrong, and the mystery continues until finally we discover that the bug hasn’t been eaten at all but is revealed perched on a young girl’s nose.

Although the ending is a little anticlimactic toddlers will enjoy turning the pages to find out which animal comes next, looking at the bright, bold illustrations and joining in with the questions and responses. A cleverly designed die cut board book for the very young.
