Wizzbang Wizard: Super Splosh

Author: Scoular Anderson

Young Freddy has come to his Great Uncle Sneezer’s house to learn how to be a wizard. But Freddy is no Harry Potter. His house dragon, Odds and Ends, nags at him to practise more, but Freddy just wants to have fun – and eat Tingle Toast. Then an envelope arrives from the Inspector of Wizards. Freddy has his first test – and it’s going to take place the following day! Freddy saves the day (and the unfortunate inspector), even though his spells aren’t quite what the inspector was expecting.

The book has short chapters, large font, simple vocabulary and basic, if uninspiring illustrations. This is a fairly easy and undemanding read which will appeal to some confident young readers. Harry Potter meets The Sorceror’s Apprentice? Not quite. Also in this series: Wizzbang Wizard: Bubble Trouble.
