Wolven

Author: Di Toft

Wolven is an arrestingly packaged, amusing and scary tale from a new author. It echoes many predecessors but is engaging and readable in its own right. There’s a dodgy, top-secret governmental science project, a bully who gets his comeuppance, daft elderly hippies/wicken folk, some utterly repellent villains and a very likeable main character with a dog/last surviving wolven called Woody. Best of all I liked the Spaghetti Twins who are a pair of werewolf henchmen who follow the path of goodness at the end. Sorry, not werewolves, lycanthropes.

Young readers will find this easy to get into. They’ll enjoy the story, the action and the funny bits. Most of all they’ll have lots of fun jiggling the cover. Smart move, Chicken House!
